About Us
Prevention is the cornerstone to ensuring the administration of effective Search and Rescue (SAR) programs. Preventing a SAR incident is preferable to responding to one. Many SAR incidents can be avoided with proper preparation against unforeseen weather and mishaps, preventing needless hardship and loss of life.
The Northern Search and Rescue (SAR) Strategy is an initiative of the governments of the Northwest Territories, Nunavut and Yukon, together with the RCMP, to further develop and enhance the prevention and response to ground search and rescue incidents in Canada’s North.
This website provides users with information and tools designed to prevent accidents in the wilderness and to facilitate quicker responses when they do occur.
